Plastic is the New-New. Because Karl Lagerfeld Says So.
Ever since I laid my eyes on some Melissa x Vivienne Westwood plastic heels at the flagship London TopShop store, with bottom floor dedicated to shoes, I knew it was a unique brand. I hadn't seen anything like it, the shoe was sturdy on testing, and it was very comfortable. And to think, made completely of plastic. Last week, the famous Brazilian brand came out with a collection of 4 collaborated designs with fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Karl says, "Melissa is something very special because nobody makes shoes like this, they are world famous, BUT they are typical Brazilian shoes."
I love Lagerfeld's take on plastic, "Luxury is not modern. The whole idea of this collaboration was to make a modern shoe." And so he did. Check out the photos on the left. The ice cream pump is soooo much fun!
Awesome behind the scenes video with Lagerfeld speaking of the collabo can be seen here. Highly recommended! You can also check out more of the footwear collection details here.
