Boys Are Irrelevant When It Comes To Shoes :: A Story.
Guest post by: @MsAlexO
I was 13 years old about to embark on the biggest adventure of my life… 6th grade. Like any overly productive, slightly OCD 13 year old girl, and after a months’ worth of school clothes shopping, I organized and labeled my first weeks outfits (insert excitement here)!
Day one of school had begun; my chin was to the ceiling, back was arched and my attitude was on another level! I was in the cafeteria with all my friends when I was startled by the voice of my elementary crush. I calmly turned around to greet him (in my head preparing a hair whip and dainty voice) but as I turned to engage him I noticed something even better…. My shiny new pink converse all stars! I walked towards my reflection beaming from the full length cafeteria window and I was so engaged with myself in the freshly cleaned lunchroom window that I passed up the opportunity to chat with my elementary love. I had officially found my true first love…. Converse!
Since my initial 6th grade encounter, Converse All-Stars have acted as a staple in my shoe collection. I consider myself a “versatile fashion wearer” (if that’s a thing) and my chuck wearage (yes, I make up words) can attest to this fact. I’m definitely a girly-girl but my chucks give me edge; I’m a full time student with a job so chucks and tights are a requirement; I don’t mind hitting the LA streets for a bit of partying but I need my fancy converse for the occasion and lastly, I’m convinced that my chucks extenuate my under-worked leg muscles (yay for the illusion of being toned)!
Girly, sporty or preppy, pairing my outfits with converse instantly provides attitude and flare! Learning about this shoe-fluence early on enhanced my love for shoes and marked the beginning of my love of converse and my overall shoe-ddiction.
Take away points from my love story:
- Chucks are a staple item
- Shoes are the best accessory to any outfit
- You look and feel like an instant bad-ass when you wear converse
- Boys are irrelevant when it comes to shoes
